KYM MCKENZIE, LPC-SUPERVISOR
Kym is seeing clients in person and teletherapy.
I am a Texas transplant, making my way as fast as I could permanently in 2010 when I finished my Masters and began my career as a counselor. I have been counseling full time since 2011, starting my work with The Women’s Center of Tarrant Counseling, focusing my work on survivors of sexual abuse and violent crimes. It has been my greatest passion fulfilled to be able to walk along side both children and adults in the midst of difficult times. My passion thrives in being able to aid others in the healing process, while using Biblical principles and giving hope to those that may not know it is there.
I thoroughly enjoy being married to one of the funniest men I know and look forward to many more years of laughing together. We recently adopted our son and have made our family complete with his addition. He brings both joy and challenges to us that I firmly believe help me to better equipped in my craft. I look forward to working with you.
I enjoy working with children, adolescents, and adults who have experienced trauma, sexual abuse, marriage, family and parenting issues. I am a trained therapist in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) that is a helpful technique for trauma. I enjoy incorporating art into therapy when appropriate, as well as play with children to help them find a way to understand and work through their feelings.
I received my BS in Social Work degree from Howard Payne University and a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Counseling degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
